A few weeks ago I had been looking for a great thing to do with three kids on the St. Patrick’s Day weekend. I remembered having seen a Pivot Facebook post about a “Weekend at the Museum – All About Art” for families with kids of all ages. I happen to have three kids that are “All About Art” themselves. I had also been looking for a reason to introduce the kids to the wonders of the museum and I thought this would be the perfect way. I packaged up a two, a five, and an eight year old complete with a backpack full of snacks and spare clothes ready for a day at the museum!
Upon arrival, I was pleasantly surprised that the cost of the event was covered by our couples’ Pivot membership! Yay! And it just got better from there. The kids were so excited as they ran up the large stairwell to the second floor. It was a great opportunity for them to look at some of the wonderful art and blend that with creative playtime of their own. We made clay animals, coloured with water-colour pencils, created “3-D” art with a wide variety of supplied materials, and enjoying some live music with story-telling.
I left with three exhausted kids that can’t wait to go back to the Glenbow!
The next Weekend at the Museum is June 23 and 24 — watch for more details coming soon.
